Our Story

The ReelAbilities NY Disabilities Film Festival

The ReelAbilities NY Disabilities Film Festival was initiated at the JCC in Manhattan, in 2007. The festival was the first of its kind to present award- winning films by and about people with disabilities. Screenings took place at multiple venues throughout the city and they were followed by discussions that brought together the community to explore, discuss, embrace, and celebrate the diversity of our shared human experience.

ReelAbilities Columbus

In 2012, Columbus became the 13th city to host the ReelAbilities NY Disabilities Film Festival. VSA Ohio, the statewide organization on arts and disability has presented 3 full festivals and numerous promotional screenings with an array of regional partners. ReelAbilities Columbus will include multiple screenings in October 2017 and begin a new bi-monthly format next year, with films in January, March, May, July, September, and November 2018.
